A treasured community resource, the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center is an amazing place to check out with the kids. It is complete with live animals to learn about as well as a planetarium. Nestled in beautiful Huntington Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks, it sits in a scenic, diverse ecosystem. The center offers classes, camps, and even a preschool. Daily, they are a stop on the field trip circuit and welcome many out of town guests. They have something for everyone: homeschool programs, teen programs, internships, and adult programs. You can even host a birthday party there!
But the center is not just a place for people to visit, it’s also a place for animals to visit! They offer wildlife rehabilitation services for injured or abandoned baby animals. To date, they have helped over 1,700 wild animals.
Founded almost 75 years ago by Elberta Fleming of Bay Village, the center’s mission has always been to educate and inspire citizens to “understand, appreciate and take responsibility for the natural world.”
Admission is free and programs are affordable. They are open year-round, every day from 9 am to 4 pm. For more info, go to https://www.lensc.org/
