Maggie is the owner of Maggie Newton Photography, a local lifestyle family photographer in the Cleveland area specializing in capturing candid moments.
Hi Maggie, tell us a little about yourself & family:
Hi! My name is Maggie Newton (nice to meet you all!) I am originally from Bay Village, and now live in Avon. I have been married for 10 years, and have 3 children – Annie (7), Alice (6), James (4).
What are your favorite things to do with your family?
You will find our family on a sports field around town any day of the week – we love playing (and coaching!) sports. We also love spending time near Lake Erie, going to Cedar Point, or hosting friends and family at our house.
What’s your favorite family-friendly restaurant in our area?
If we decide to venture out for dinner, we love hanging out at Red Tail Golf Club at the pool or patio in the warm months. And in the winter months, we combine bowling and dinner at Main Event.
Please tell us about Maggie Newton Photography! Why/when did you start it & how did you know this was what you wanted to do?
I started my business in 2016 after my oldest daughter, Annie, was born. I loved capturing the memorable moments I didn’t want to forget, and found myself investing a lot of time and energy in to doing so. After sharing some of my images on social media, I decided to offer my services to friends and family. I have loved this self taught journey and the incredible feedback from my community has encouraged me to continue learning every day.
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
There is NOTHING better than knowing my images will be part of a family story.
Do you have any advice for someone wanting to start their own business?
If someone wants to start their own business – DO IT! Think outside the box! Some ideas will work, and some won’t – that is OKAY! Taking the risk is the hardest part – stick with it!
What’s your proudest accomplishment?
I am SO PROUD that my family is proud of me.
Is there anything you would have changed or done differently with your business thus far?
If I could have changed anything, I would have worried less about people not liking my work. Some will, and some won’t!
How do you juggle being a working mom?
I couldn’t run my business and be a stay at home mom without my husband – I don’t say it enough, but THANK YOU, JESSE. (I hope you’re reading this!)
What do you love best about the work that you do?
Without a question – I LOVE meeting new people. I love meeting families. Moms to be. Brides and Grooms. Friends. I love meeting ALL of you and if you’ve worked with me, I hope you’ve been able to feel that in our time together.
Where do you hope to be in 10 years?
In 10 years – I hope to be making more friends (around the world!) and meeting more people. And continuing to make my family proud.
Who has influenced you the most to be the mom you are today?
I am most influenced to be the mom I am today by all the moms I have met. We all have our strengths and our weaknesses and I appreciate that in everyone.
