Get ready to blast off into a night of cosmic curiosity at Lake Metroparks’ annual Super Star Party. Happening Saturday, August 9 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Penitentiary Glen Reservation, this one-of-a-kind event brings space exploration down to Earth with a full evening of hands-on adventure and family-friendly fun.
From intergalactic games and extraterrestrial crafts to indoor planetarium shows and stargazing, guests will enjoy an exciting lineup of activities designed to spark wonder and exploration. Highlights include:
- Telescope viewing with members of the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society
- Guided night hikes
- Live astronomical demonstrations
- A journey through the stars in the StarLab Portable Planetarium
- Animal encounters with ambassadors from the Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center
- Interactive scavenger hunts and photo ops
- Space-themed merchandise and glow-in-the-dark goodies available for purchase in the Nature Store
Miniature train rides will also be available courtesy of the Lake Shore Live Steamers, weather permitting. For safety reasons, pregnant women are not permitted to ride, and children must sit on their own (no lap sitting allowed.)
“This event brings together two things families love: exploring nature and looking up at the stars,” says Kristin Snider, Nature Center Interpretive Manager at Lake Metroparks. “It’s an exciting way to connect science and imagination, whether you’re peeking through a telescope, hiking through the woods, or learning something new inside the planetarium.”
Advance registration is required. Tickets are $8 per person (ages 2 and older) and include access to all activities. Children younger than 2 are free. All outdoor activities are weather dependent.
