We were surprised and worried. I had to research his diagnosis and learn more about what to expect. We were thankful that our pediatrician called it to our attention, and we could follow up with them.

What was your experience learning how to use the helmet?
The helmet we decided to go with was so easy to put on and take off. It is in two pieces, so it made it easy to put on while he is sitting in your lap or even laying on the ground.
How did Henry adjust to it?
I was so worried about how Henry would adjust to the helmet because he was a super sensitive baby. I was shocked when it didn’t faze him at all! He was amazing and I found the only challenging part was getting it on because he was wiggly and wanting to look at the helmet. They gave me a schedule to follow the first few days so he could get used to wearing the helmet before being in it for 23hrs of the day.
How was his sleep?
Henry slept like he would normally in the helmet. Again, I was worried it would disturb his sleep because he was so sensitive, but I think it actually helped him sleeping. Henry has torticollis and has a preference to his right side. He was able to easily look both directions and helped him roll over in his sleep.
Were there any challenges you had to overcome?
We didn’t have any major challenges!
Anything else you’d like to share about your experience with us?
My husband and I enjoyed working with the team at Leimkuehler! They made us feel so comfortable and were quick to respond whenever we had a question about the helmet. We felt supported and encouraged during the process and we are happy with the final product.
