Indoor Snow Day Activities To Do With Kids At Home - The Cleveland Moms

It feels like 2026 is off to a record amount of snow/cold days & whether the roads are too iffy to travel on or you really just want to stay home + warm inside, I’ve put together some ideas that have been submitted by TheClevelandMoms.com social media community (are you following on FB & IG?) as well as my own, of course!

KEEP IT SIMPLE

When my son was younger, he loved playing with trains, monster trucks, & cars so we’d have them all over the house! A classic like building forts or pretend play as their favorite cartoon characters, etc was also a big hit! If you like crafting, there are a ton of ideas out there – just google “simple kids crafts” or without *simple* if you like a challenge. Building with LEGOs, Duplo, & Magna-Tiles are another classic way to spend a snow day.

SAVE THE TOYS!ย

Put little toys in a muffin tin, fill with water, & freeze overnight. Remove from pan & give the kiddos little utensils &/or tools to “save” their toys!

PRETEND IT’S SUMMER

Turn the heat up to 80 (or whatever you think is a warm temp ๐Ÿ˜‰) & pretend it’s summer – break out the summer clothes & have an indoor picnic!

BRING THE SNOW INSIDE

Put some snow in a bin & bring it inside to use as a sensory bin – don’t forget to lay out some towels! Another option is snow in the kitchen sink or bathtub – use sand toys, race cars, or monster trucks. You can also look up snow ice cream recipes, too!

PAPER SNOWBALL FIGHT

Stay warm & crumble up some paper to make paper snowballs. You can also build snow walls using your furniture &/or pillows!

INDOOR TAPE TAG

Use painters tape to create an indoor obstacle course through hallways, doorways, tables, chairs, etc!

PUT THEM TO WORK

Use this time to teach household chores but make it fun by keeping them involved & letting them help at their own pace.

KINETIC SAND

If you don’t have a sand table, you can lay a blanket down with a piece of cardboard & use a low sided bin. Afterwards, just shake any leftovers on the blanket outside!

LIGHTS! CAMERAS! ACTION!

Dim the lights, close the curtains, & gather some cozy blankets + pillows to create your own movie theater experience! Popcorn or any other of their favorite snacks is an added bonus.

INDOOR HAMMOCKS

Gather some sheets & tie a knot around the top of a table tightly to make indoor hammocks underneath it!
