Meet Sediah from Meals Made Easy - The Cleveland Moms

Tell me a little bit about yourself – where are you originally from & how long have you lived in town?

I am originally from Huntsville, Alabama but I have lived in Cleveland since the age of 3. I have two little humans named Dawud who is 6 and Na’ilah who is 4.

Favorite things to do with your family?

My favorite things to do with my family is to explore new activities along with parks and we really enjoy trying new foods.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you..

People may be surprised to know that I went to the University of Akron on a full athletic scholarship and received my bachelors in Child and Family Education.

What sport was the full athletic scholarship for?

Cross country & track. I was a distance runner.

What are some of your favorite things about NE Ohio?

I absolutely love our Metro parks, I could spend my entire summers riding bikes, going on runs and having picnics with my family.

Please tell us about Meals Made Easy! Why did you start it and how did you know this is what you wanted to do?

Meals Made Easy is a weekly prepared meals, juices, and snack delivery service focused on flavorful and healthy meals. You can order or learn more here: Mealsmadeeasysh.org. Meals Made Easy started simply from my own health issues. While pregnant with my daughter I unfortunately could not gain weight and inadvertently she was termed SGA (small for gestational age.) I was prescribed ensure for the duration of my pregnancy and to eat everything/anything I wanted (the worst advice ever.) It was then that I decided to learn about nutrition and also how to listen to what my body is telling me it needs. Ultimately I went back to school to become a Holistic Health and Wellness coach. My love grew from there, it was through helping others that kept moving forward with my business. When my clients would call me to tell me a “health victory” that’s when I really knew I loved that feeling of helping someone along in their journey, and that cooking was what I needed to do.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

My community has been a great help from people sharing my business with others, buying my products and even with my kids business showing support and helping with their sales as well!

Do you have any advice for someone wanting to start their own business?

The best advice I can give someone is to follow your passion even if you think it’s small. From there think about how you can create on a larger scale  and monetize with the idea that you have!

What’s your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is cheesy but true. My entire life all I wanted was to be a mother and I have two amazing little people who call me mommy and seriously for me life doesn’t get any better than them!!

Anything you would have changed or done differently with your business thus far?

I would be more brave and less shy and really put myself out there. Taking risks really scare me but in 2021 I promised myself not to hold “myself” back anymore!!

How do you juggle being a working mom?

I don’t know if I have the best balance but I do know that when I have down time from meal prepping I always make sure to make “moments” count with my kids. Finding a new park, making new recipes with them are all things they enjoy so I try not to think about how much time I have but how I spend my time with them. Being intentional is what my focus is for my family.

Where do you hope to be in 10 years?

I hope to be in my own building where I am teaching about Health And Wellness to those who lack the education and don’t necessarily know where to start in their health journey! My goal is to also have several community gardens where children and their families can cultivate what they’re eating and also for families to see really how much work and love goes into harvesting the produce we have on our plates!

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

My Partner and Friend Dawud Hamzah! Simply put my children have the best father I could have ever asked for. The amount of patience I have learned and seen from him is unbelievable. Without him in my life as my sound board, my motivator and support system I don’t believe I would be here today as a mom and entrepreneur.
